Crossfit Covert

My whole life I have been pretty athletic. I danced for as long as I can remember. I was in gymnastics, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, Cheerleading, Polynesian dancing, and Filipino cultural dancing. I played soccer and ran track, hurdles, no less. I loved working and and I loved being sore after a good workout. I would say, "It hurts so good."

After having kids, I pretty much stopped working out all together, the most physical activity I would get was either chasing the kids, or to put it bluntly, alone time with my hubby. *wink, wink* sadly, that was it. Last year around November, I started doing a Bootcamp that was at 6am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  I wasn't really getting what I needed out of the bootcamp, I lost weight and was continually losing weight, but I just couldn't keep up with getting up at 5am to work out.  I was just too tired and that is SOOO early to wake up, plus it was COLD! I'm competitive, but I didn't feel a need to compete with any of the girls in it.  I just wasn't fulfilled.

In February, our close friends, Paul and Rafaelle, invited us to a Crossfit Competition.  They were opening a Crossfit Box of their own, so they invited us to see what it was all about.  I personally, have never heard of it, but we went anyway to hang out with them.  It was pretty hard core.  The girls were super buff and the guys were just a bag of muscles (Ew, obviously I like my honey a little fluffy).  I didn't really think much of it at the time, but I remember leaving the games thinking, "There is NO WAY I would ever do that!"

Fast forward to July, Todd ran across an amazon deal for Crossfit, come to find out, it was Paul and Rafaelle's box.  So we bought the deal and I gave it a try.  After the first WOD, I truly didn't think I was going to go back.  I thought I was going to DIE! Paul and Rafaelle called and checked up on me to see how I liked it and encouraged me to work through the pain and to go back.  The first week, I did two WOD's, the second week I did three.  I continued to do it two to three times a week for a month.  I thought that with all the work I was putting in, I would begin to see results in weight loss.  That is what I didn't see, I gained EIGHT pounds the first month, I was PISSED (to be quite Frank).  I was seriously ready to quit, but I talked to Paul and he told me to measure myself and to see if it was just muscle gain and I was possibly losing inches.  WRONG again!  My thighs were bigger, my hips were bigger, my arms were bigger, and my waist was the only thing to get smaller.  Once again, I was PISSED!  I was so, so discouraged.  I wanted to quit, but Paul told me to give it another month and to not necessarily change my diet, but cut my portions in half, but to eat more often, so I gave it another month.

I am so glad I didn't quit.  I noticed that my clothes were feeling roomier, and everywhere I went people were telling me that I looked like I've lost weight.  The scale wasn't showing me any difference, (which is still frustrating) but I could see a difference.  I guess that is what matters.  I talked it up so much, that Todd started going.  He doesn't go as often as I would like him to go because of his work schedule, but he is trying, which is big for him.
 Todd after a crazy WOD
I LOVE our Box!  Everyone is so encouraging and inspiring.  There is healthy competition, yet everyone delights in everyone else's accomplishments.  I love when people are able to lift each other up instead of bringing people down.  There is such a positive energy in our box.  You really feel like these people care about you and it is genuine.  If you miss a WOD, you are really missed.  I haven't been this week and I was asked where I've been by multiple members.  I NEED that accountability, if I didn't have it, I would probably slack more that I do, (not that I am slacking, but I've been super busy this week.)

I actually feel stronger!
We did a 21 Day Paleo Challenge and I this is when I started seeing the numbers on the scale decrease.  I lost six of the original eight pounds I gained.  This made a huge difference.  It was really hard cutting out sweets, but I did it for 12 days and then I gave into temptation, I added a small sweet treat into my day, but continued with the challenge.
Todd did much better at being disciplined than me.  He stuck it out the whole 21 days and as a result, he lost fourteen pounds.  I was quite impressed with my man!
Yup, that's me!
I suggest if you are interested in trying crossfit out, Crossfit Covert is the BEST Box around!!

Tuesday is NOT my Favorite Day of the Week

I have decided that Tuesdays are my least favorite day of the week.  Taelyn and Trent have gymnastics on Tuesday mornings.  Taelyn's class is at 10am-10:45am and Trent's is at 10:45am-11:30am.  It really and truly is exhausting for ME.  The whole time during Taelyn's class, I am wrangling Trent.  It takes everything in me to keep him off of the gymnastics floor.  He runs around that place like a mad man.  He knows how to open the door that leads to the parking lot and goes for the door every chance he gets.  If he is not trying to escape outside, he is climbing the chairs and invading the personal space of the parents trying to watch their kids in class.  The worst part of this is, I can't watch Taelyn, who so desperately is seeking my approval and admiration of the tricks she does.  I just can't take my eyes off of Trent for not even a second, he can't be trusted!

When that long 45 minutes are over, its time for Trent's class.  One would think that he goes out to the gymnastics floor willingly, but noooo, since Taelyn is sitting quietly watching videos or playing games on my phone, he wants to be where she is and wants nothing to do with his class.  I spend the first 10 minutes of Trent's class, trying to get him interested in the equipment, like the trampoline and the bars.  Once he is focused on his class, Taelyn screams my name to tell me that her game is over and she wants to play something else.  So I run back to her and assist her and once again, Trent is distracted by his sister and wants to be with her instead of pay attention to his class.  And repeat my first 10 minutes of class, this goes on for 45 minutes!!  LONGEST HOUR AND A HALF OF MY LIFE!!!

By the time class is over for both of them, I am beat!  We usually  go to my mom's house for lunch, so she can occupy them and I can rest a bit.  Then we go home for naps.  Taelyn hasn't napped for about 3 months now, so it is "quiet time" for her while the baby sleeps.  During this time, I try to catch up on laundry or house work and before I know it, its time for Jazz.  Taelyn has Jazz at 5pm-5:45pm and Ballet at 5:45-6:30pm, so we need to leave by 4:30 to go ten minutes away so I can find parking and get both kids out of the car and into the studio on time.  It really is an exhausting process.  While Taelyn is in class, I am in the lobby entertaining Trent, once again, I am unable to watch her or see her progress because I am wrangling him. We walk up and down State Street multiple times to pass the time.  I take him into stores only to play as an invisible force field to everything he might touch.   Again, the LONGEST HOUR AND A HALF OF MY LIFE!!!

When Taelyn is done with dance, we rush home to have dinner which is often chicken nuggets or a sandwich because by now, I am too exhausted to make anything.  I feed them quickly and get them upstairs and in the bath.  This is usually the time Todd comes home from work.  He helps me get them out of the tub and brushes their teeth, which is a chore I would love to just never have to do. This is when I can take a quick shower.  Todd plays with them for about 20-30 minutes since he hasn't seen them all day, when really, I just want them to go to bed!  Todd tucks Taelyn in her bed and prays with her while Trent nurses, (Yes, he is two and he is STILL nursing) When I put him in his crib, I literally fall into my bed and Todd looks at me and asks me if I'm tired?  I sarcastically say, "Noooo, not at all, but don't even think about getting close to me, I just want to sleep."  After about 3 months of this happening, I realized, I get anxiety every Tuesday morning because I am dreading the day ahead.  So yup, Tuesday is NOT my favorite day of the week!

*I have NO pictures of these events because I didn't have the time to capture any of it.

Pumpkin Patch with TMOMs

I love this TMOMs outing. We have so much fun watching through the kid's eyes and every year just gets better and better!  Last year, I felt like the kids were so small, they couldn't really participate in much, this year, they were pretty much able to participate in everything!
Trent insisted on wearing this hat

Taelyn was being naughty this morning, so her punishment was me, NOT fixing her hair and putting her in a bow that doesn't match... (This may not be a punishment to some, but for my little Prima Donna, this is torture!) This is her hair, not fixed, according to her, "I look Bruha"
Of course, I have to dress them in like colors, they are too cute for words!
Brooklyn and Trent having a conversation

Oh, how I love these two
Waiting to pet the chick (Taelyn was NOT interested in petting the chick, Trent did, though)
Alayna, Kendall and Taelyn
 Brooklyn and her Mama, Lea

Once again, Taelyn chose a "Clean Pumpkin"
 We took a Hay Ride

We took a picture just like this last year, what a difference a year makes!
We all had such a great time at the Pumpkin patch!

Two Days At Disneyland

At the beginning of October, we went to Disneyland two days in a row.  We went on Monday with the kids and then again on Tuesday with our friends, Ryan and Lea.  I have never been to Disneyland during the fall when they have all of the Halloween decorations up, so this was a new experience for me as well as the kids.  The weather was pretty perfect, not too hot or too cold.  The sun was shining so brightly all day, the kids looked so cute in their shades.  This is the first time Taelyn has kept her glasses on all day without wanting to take them off.  Trent happily wears his glasses pretty much daily.
Waiting to get on Mater's ride.  A first for all of us.  Trent was tall enough this trip!
Sulley from Monster's University
 Taelyn LOVES Snow White
The line for the Mickey Pumpkin was way too long, so this worked for us :)
We had a blast with the kids, but going to Disneyland on a date with my hubby was excellent!
We got to go on the rides we can't go on with the kids.  It was like we were seeing a whole new Disneyland. Todd and I never went to Disneyland when we were dating, and every other time we went, we had kids with us, so this was a completely new experience.  It was kinda nice not having to push a stroller, change a diaper, worry about who was hungry or not hungry, who wants to do what.  It was fun to not have to worry about the littles.
We met up with Ryan and Lea.  It was like we were teenagers again.
What was even better, we partook in some adult beverages in the middle of the day!
It was such a beautiful day!
 Double Date Day!
 The Pumpkin Mickey
Lea and I are both standing on the curb and I'm on my tip toes and our hubby's still tower over us :)
After Disneyland, we went to Umami Burger for dinner
 Then to Anaheim Brewery
I believe every married couple with children need to get away and have a great time with great friends and get the time to miss the kids and get reacquainted with each other.  By the end of the day, I missed my babies terribly, but I felt so refreshed and happy to be able to spend that time with my husband.  We got home in time to get the kids ready for bed and get in the snuggles that we missed during the day.  It was a great two days at Disneyland!

Trent's Jake and the Neverland Pirates 2nd Birthday Party

I have no clue where the past couple of months have gone!  September was a blur and October is nearly over.  I, once again have neglected my blog.  I have been busy pretty much every single day for the past few months.  I have had a "bonus baby" at least two, to three times a week since September.  Life has been crazy! Taelyn and Trent are at a fun stage in life.  Trent just turned two on October 10th and as of October 20th, Taelyn hit her 3 and a half year mark.

As of Trent's two year check up, he is now 29 pounds, 35 1/2 inches tall, 60th percentile for height and weight.  He is putting together three and four word sentences. ( I was worried for a while because he wasn't talking much at all) He is ALL BOY!  He loves playing with cars and trucks.  He is obsessed with Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  He loves wearing hats and wears one pretty much everyday. Just like his Daddy, he has a love for the Dodgers.

The weekend of his actual birthday, Todd and JJ went to Dallas for a Cowboy's football game.
Obviously, Daddy was having a blast!
 Silly Daddy

We were crazy busy with different activities and parties this year that we had to have Trent's birthday Party 10 days after his birthday. We started planning, oh, about three weeks before the party.  I was totally not in the party mood this year, but we pulled it off.  Once it was all said and done, I am so glad we had a great party and everyone enjoyed themselves.  I sent out a Facebook invite and text message, (so tacky, but hey, it did the trick) There were so many people here.  This year, I decided that I was not going to go all out like I usually do and cut costs anywhere I could.  I didn't do the decorating like I would like, I didn't pay much attention to detail, I just kept it simple.  I figured, as long as there is good food, good people and fun things for the kids to do, it will be a success, and boy was I right.  There were hardly any decorations and I don't think anyone even noticed.

I made well over 100 cookies, and there were NONE left over
Father and son

Eddie got into the Pirate spirit
The play room was packed to capacity

The Jumper is always a hug hit
Trent took the first hit of the pinata
 Braxdon
 Taelyn
 Tylia

There were so many kids! After every kid had a shot at the Pinata, I gave it a go!
I have to note, I was quite proud of myself because I knew EVERY SINGLE kid's name!
It was a scramble after we opened the pinata
It was a struggle to get a family picture, this is the best we got :(
Taelyn wasn't feeling the picture, so she ditched us and we got a good one of the three of us
Happy 2nd Birthday, Tank!

I really have no clue how many people were at the party, I just know it was an amazing turn out and my little man was showered with love.  He had so much fun! I do know we have the best family and friends anyone could ever ask for!

Trent is 6!!

I blinked and my man turned six years old.  Every year I have had a huge party.  According to Trent, I give all of his friends weapons on hi...
