Hiking In Albuquerque

Anyone who knows me, knows I am not much of an outdoorsy person, but I am stepping outside of my box and doing things I wouldn't even think of for my kids. Todd's sister and her husband hike often and planned a great hike for all of the family. Here are some pictures from our hike.

The beautiful red rocks

Amazing trees

"Spade Rock" is what my nephew Matthew named this rock

The boys found a horny toad and cool Aunt Dana picked it up for them... Ewww!

Todd nearly lost his life, with my baby in tow! Luckily he had help :)

Road Trip Part III: 2nd Worst Night Ever!

We finally made it to Albuquerque in record time. We got settled in and hung out with the family. The day was great and we all were happy to be together again. We exchanged stories and played a few games. The kids were feeling better for the most part. We went for a walk after dinner. All in all the day was nice.

We set up Taelyn and Trent's pack and plays and settled in for the night. We put the kids to bed and that lasted about an hour before Trent was in the full sized futon with us, next thing I knew Taelyn was in the bed with us too! It was outrageous! We are used to a California King for two people. Now we were in a futon with four people! To say we were uncomfortable is an understatement. I was happy when morning came so we could get the kids up and out of bed. This is what we looked like:
Taelyn and Trent were kicking each other and us all night

We were so cramped

Road Trip Part II: WORST NIGHT EVER!

Kisses for brother before bed

We stayed the night at the Williams House and boy, was it an interesting night. We went to sleep fairly early. The kids went down at 8pm and Todd and I followed soon after. We slept great until about midnight. Trent woke us up having a coughing fit, he choked and gagged and made himself throw up. After we cleaned him up, he went straight back to sleep. Then at about 2am, he was fussing and the next thing I knew, I felt warm liquid all over my arm... he threw up again, on me and in the bed. Poor guy. We turned on the light and again, cleaned up and I glance over at Taelyn in her pack and play and I see her curled up in the fetal position, completely shivering. I covered her and she turned towards me and her lips were blue! So I picked her up to try and warm her and she started coughing and threw up on me and on the floor!! Taelyn does not have a weak stomach and she VERY rarely throws up, ever! It was the worse. She was so upset she threw up, she started to cry. Before I knew it, it was 4am. Todd and I decided to just pack it up and put the kids in the car and continue on to Albuquerque.

Taelyn didn't want to be bothered by anyone

Road Trip Part I

Todd's Dad's 60th birthday is coming up on the 22nd, he said all he wanted was all of his kids and grand kids to be together in one place. DONE!
We set off to make the 12 hour drive to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to his sister's house. We broke up our dive by stopping in Yucca to see the house his dad built from the ground up. When we got there, I was so amazed!!! He did an awesome job! It really looks like a house that real professionals made, (not saying that he is not a professional, but ya know what I mean)
Of course I had to pack my boy!

These two slept most of the drive

Taelyn was not happy about getting out of the car

Trent smiling as we got him out to see Grampy and Grammy's house

The Yucca House

I was VERY impressed!
We continued on after we explored the Yucca house. We went to Todd's dad's other house in Williams, Arizona. We decided to break the trip up so that the kids could get a break. 12 hours straight just seemed like too much for a 2 year old and 7 month old. When we got to Williams, we dropped off our stuff and went to find somewhere to eat. We found a little Route 66 Diner to have dinner. For dessert, we had Dairy Queen and headed back to the house to settle in for the night. Todd and I did our usual routine for bed and called it a night. More to come on our trip in the next blog.

We found Mentone Beach!

One day we were bored and Taelyn was in a particular mood. Carly, one of my neighbors came over with her son and we decided to go in search of
Mentone Beach. I had heard of it many times and I know lots of people who have been there, but I saw a video of another neighbor, (Scott and Kailey) there this morning, so I asked how to get there and we were off!

This was seriously spontaneous for me. We just hopped in our cars and went looking for it. We couldn't find it at first, but after a numerous amounts of U-turns and walking up a few hills, we found it. Boy, was it unexpected. We had to walk to the water and it was a nice short trail, but Taelyn was NOT about it! She pretty much cried the whole time. When we made it to the water, she was apprehensive, but she stuck her feet in--baby steps

I was surprised at how big the body of water was, so unexpected

My Instagram Shot of the adventure

This was a fun little afternoon adventure. When we got there, there was a whole family there with a gazebo set up on the water and ice chests. They said they go there all the time and that it has been there forever and they were shocked that this was our 1st time. How did I never know about this place?? We will go back again with Todd another time.

When we left, we went to Carly and Braxdon's house to play in Brax's baby pool, to my surprise, Taelyn got in with her clothes on, she just jumped in, I guess playing in the water is good clean fun to her. It also could be all the times we have been in the pool at my brother's house lately. All in all, it was a fun, dirty, spontaneous day!
